Roger's AI Statement

How I do and don't use AI

Narrative

AI has enabled remarkable tools which have radically changed software development in a very short period of time. However, like any tools, AI-enabled tools have their limits. I wanted to make my AI practices clear here.

I do use AI-enabled tools for:

  • Personal and work project code generation, including Spec Driven Development, "vibe coding" and debugging existing code. If code is AI-generated through such processes I will include the associated MD files and/or note the development process. Please feel free to quiz me on any submitted code.
  • Agentic searches of job boards for relevant positions.
  • Review of resumes and cover letters and comparison against job descriptions. Some suggestions for improved wording may be manually integrated.

I do not use AI-enabled (or any other) tools for:
  • Agentic job application submissions, unless it is on a commercial platform specifically designed for that purpose for interested employers.
  • Full agentic submission of tailored resumes or cover letters to match a job description.
  • Job interview coding assignments, unless the assignment explicitly allows or requires such.
  • Monitoring a live job interview to supply immediate answers.
